The “Wine-DUFTikum” at the foot of the Riegersburg

“The Styrian vulcanic region is eminently suited for wine and fruit-growing.” Pretty nice, but how is this done? What is essential when it comes to the production of wine? What is important for a good drop of wine? How do you become a wine connoisseur? What history does wine have in this region?

The “Wine –DUFTtikum” will answer all these questions. And you will learn with all your senses: How does an old, wooden cellar lock work? What does a whinstone feel like? What are olivine bombs? Then we get straight down to the root of the matter:

Rowanberry, apricots, plums or pear spirits? Looking at it with your own eyes won’t help anymore, you’ll have to trust in the conk! Or better use both senses in a multivision show where you learn about the history, customs, cult and art, and superstition of wine, while a machine, specifically constructed for the museum, emits all kinds of fragrances to poetical images.

The “Wine-DUFTikum” is located at the foot of the Riegersburg and is open from April to
October, from Tuesday to Sunday from 1 pm to 5 pm.
