Myths, adventures and gruesome stories are spun around Riegersburg castle, the imposing landmark of eastern Styria. Riegersburg could not be conquered during the centuries of its existence. Indeed, it was considered the strongest fortification in the occident. Today it is loved tourist destination.

The castle rooms host two exhibitions: “The Witches Museum” in the basement and “Fabulous Riegersburg – Legendary women” in the grand rooms.

High Above

The climb to the castle itself is an adventure. The mile-long defence walls with numerous embrasures line the historical walkway, which meanders along eleven bastions through seven doors. An inclined elevator is also available.
